เปิดตัว Spec ของ ALL NEW Ford Focus 2012 อย่างเป็นทางการ
The 2012 Ford Focus has been revealed in full detail two months out from its Australian launch in August.
The only information Ford Australia is keeping under its hat is the price, which we expect will be revealed next month (although CarAdvice has already revealed preliminary driveaway pricing information for the Titanium TDCi model).
The 2012 Ford LW Focus range will introduce a new model naming structure, with the four-tier line-up to include the entry-level Ambiente, mid-spec Trend, performance-oriented Sport and luxury Titanium models.
All four model lines will be available in four-door sedan and five-door hatch body styles.
Three different engines will be offered including two petrols and one diesel.
The entry-level petrol engine is a 1.6-litre Duratec four-cylinder unit, which produces 92kW of power and 159Nm of torque. It will only be available in the base model Ambiente and will be teamed with either a five-speed manual (hatch only) or six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission (standard in the sedan, optional in the hatch from November).
Combined cycle fuel consumption is 6.2 litres/100km for the manual and 6.6 litres/100km for the automatic (CO2 emissions 144g/km and 154g/km respectively).
The outgoing Focus (CL, LX and Zetec) is offered with a 107kW/185Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine. Combined cycle fuel consumption is 7.1 litres/100km with the five-speed manual gearbox and 8.0 litres/100km with the outdated four-speed auto, making the new model between 13 and 17 percent more efficient.
Next up is the 2.0-litre GDi petrol engine, which produces 125kW of power and 202Nm of torque. It will be the standard engine in the Trend, Sport and Titanium model lines. The Trend and Sport hatches will come standard with the five-speed manual transmission, and offer the six-speed PowerShift transmission as an option. The Titanium models, along with the sedan variants of the Trend and Sport, will only be sold with the six-speed gearbox.
That means there will be no Focus sedans available with the manual transmission.
Combined cycle fuel consumption of the 2.0-litre GDi is 7.2 litres/100km (167g/km CO2) with the manual and 6.6 litres/100km (154g/km) with the PowerShift (Titanium: 6.7 litres/100km, 156g/km), which matches the 1.6-litre Duratec.
The final engine is the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel, which will be available as an option on all models other than the Ambiente. The diesel engine will be teamed exclusively with six-speed dual-clutch transmission (Trend hatch available from October).
The engine’s performance data has stepped up from 100kW/320Nm in the outgoing Focus to 120kW/340Nm in the new model. Despite this, combined cycle fuel consumption is down from 5.6 litres/100km to 5.5 litres/100km, with CO2 emissions of 144g/km.
The new 2012 Focus sedan and hatch are marginally longer and wider than the outgoing model, as well as slightly lower. Luggage capacity ranges from 317 litres (seats upright) to 1101 litres (seats folded) in the hatch and 421 litres in the sedan. The Titanium model, which is fitted with a 16-inch spare steel wheel, offers 227-1062 litres as a hatchback and 372 litres as a sedan.
All models except the six-speed Ambiente will be equipped with Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), which is similar to the system fitted to the new Ford Territory.
The 2012 Ford Focus has already been awarded the highest possible five-star ANCAP safety rating, which applies to all models.

Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano, said the new Focus represents “the best of the Ford Motor Company”.
“In every world market where Focus competes, customers are looking for expressive design, affordable innovation, superior quality, responsive performance and exceptional fuel economy,” Mr Graziano said.
“In Australia, the all-new Focus presents all these elements in one outstanding package. It raises the bar in all these areas, which will not only delight our existing customers but also expand the appeal of the Focus brand to a whole new generation of Ford customers.”
Fans of the all-new 2012 Ford Focus will get their first look at it in exactly one month, when it makes its local debut at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne.
